About:

The Ceylonese Blue Sapphire, also known as "Neelam" in Hindi, is a highly prized gemstone associated with the planet Saturn (Shani) in Vedic astrology. It's believed to be a powerful and fast-acting gemstone that can bring significant changes in the wearer's life.

Who Can Wear It:

Generally, Blue Sapphire is considered most suitable for individuals belonging to the zodiac signs of Capricorn (Makar) and Aquarius (Kumbh), as these signs are ruled by Saturn. However, there are other considerations:

  • Strong or Well-Placed Saturn: If Saturn is favorably positioned in your birth chart, wearing a blue sapphire can enhance its positive effects, bringing success, stability, and protection.
  • Weak or Afflicted Saturn: Astrologers may recommend blue sapphire to individuals experiencing negative effects due to a weak or malefic Saturn in their horoscope, such as delays, obstacles, or financial struggles.
  • During Saturn's Major Periods: It is often worn during Shani Mahadasha (Saturn's major period) or Sade Sati (7.5-year transit of Saturn) to mitigate the challenging influences of Saturn.
  • Specific Professions: It is believed to be beneficial for those in professions governed by Saturn, such as:
    • Law
    • Engineering
    • Politics
    • Social Work
    • Business
    • Leadership roles
  • Certain Ascendants: According to some astrological views, individuals with Gemini (Mithun), Virgo (Kanya), and Taurus (Vrishabh) ascendants can also benefit from wearing blue sapphire.

How to Wear It:

  • Metal: Traditionally, blue sapphire is best set in silver or white gold. Avoid wearing it with gold, as gold is ruled by the Sun, which has an inimical relationship with Saturn. Some astrologers also recommend Panchdhatu (a combination of five metals).
  • Finger: It is typically worn on the middle finger of the right hand (for men). For women, some astrologers might suggest the middle finger of either hand, depending on their working hand. The middle finger is associated with Saturn.
  • Day and Time: The most auspicious day to wear a blue sapphire is Saturday morning, ideally during the Shukla Paksha (waxing moon) or during the Saturn Hora (an auspicious hour ruled by Saturn). The ideal time is often cited as between 5:00 AM to 8:00 AM or during sunrise on a Saturday.
  • Purification and Activation: Before wearing the gemstone, it needs to be purified and energized through a ritual:
    1. Soak: Immerse the ring or pendant in a mixture of raw cow's milk, Ganga water (holy water), honey, and a few Tulsi (basil) leaves for about 20-30 minutes to remove impurities.
    2. Cleanse: After soaking, wash the gemstone with clean water.
    3. Energize: Place the ring on a clean cloth (red or yellow) in your puja (worship) area. Light incense sticks and offer flowers to Lord Saturn.
    4. Chant Mantra: While holding the ring, chant the Saturn mantra "Om Sham Shanicharaya Namah" (ॐ शं शनैश्चराय नमः) 108 times using a Rudraksha mala.
    5. Wear with Intention: After chanting, wear the ring on the designated finger with faith and a positive intention.
